What is COP27? Why is it so valued?

COP27, the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, is an annual conference held under the leadership of the United Nations to achieve the landmark goals of the Paris Agreement.

The COP27, held in Egypt from November 8 to 20, 2022, focused on implementation, put forward the slogan of "Together for implementation", and gathered heads of state, politicians and representatives of civil society to discuss strategies to deal with global climate change.

China has repeatedly announced on important occasions that it will achieve "carbon peak" by 2030 and "carbon neutrality" by 2060, taking climate change as its own responsibility.

Why is climate change attracting attention from all walks of life?

Looking back at 2022, the global average temperature is about 1.15 ° C higher than the average temperature before industrialization in 1850-1900. More and more extreme weather and rare natural disasters occur in countries all over the world: floods in Pakistan have flooded one third of its territory; China has witnessed the broadest and longest heat wave ever recorded; Drought in the Horn of Africa has brought more than 20 million people into famine

What is more alarming is that global warming and sea level rise are accelerating. The rate of sea level rise has doubled in the past 30 years.

The increase of annual average temperature will lead to the increase of extreme weather, desertification, crop yield reduction, mass extinction and other problems, which will eventually threaten the survival of human beings.

Therefore, "double carbon" has become China's top-level development strategy, and everyone has the responsibility and ability to take action in "carbon emissions".
