On January 8, the Global Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) roundtable forum of the United Nations Climate Change Summit on China's power successfully concluded. He has a forward-looking and professional view on the impacts of climate change and solutions from various fields and perspectives.

At the GCIC roundtable Forum on January 8, four guests shared their exclusive experiences of COP27 with the audience (i.e. which platforms should organizations and individuals use to obtain information and support related to climate and environmental protection), and encouraged young people to actively participate in the practice of combating climate change, which gave participants a lot of inspiration.

COP27, or the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, is an annual conference under the leadership of the United Nations to achieve the goals of the landmark Paris Agreement.

The COP27, held in Egypt from 8 to 20 November 2022, put forward the slogan "Together for implementation" and brought together heads of state, political leaders and civil society representatives to discuss ways to tackle global climate change.

China has declared on many important occasions that it will achieve "carbon peaking" by 2030 and "carbon neutrality" by 2060, so as to take tackling climate change as its own responsibility.

In addition to the official message, Director Wang also mentioned that many representatives of developing countries have a great yearning for China and expressed their strong willingness to exchange and cooperate with Chinese institutions. Director Wang called on Chinese youth to spread Chinese stories such as “Double Carbon Practice” and “Belt and Road”. “Young people should have confidence in a big country and its culture. Creating a carbon neutral future is inseparable from everyone's efforts.

Lu Zhiyao, director of the SEE Foundation's Climate Change and Business Sustainability program, first introduced the original intention of his organization: SEE in Alxa was founded many years ago by a group of entrepreneurs who realized that the vegetation in Alxa needed to be repaired. SEE Ecological Society in Alxa was founded at that time, and now it has become a leading organization to promote public participation in environmental protection. Director Lu said that from COP27 to COP15, Chinese entrepreneurs have transformed from "disorderly participants" to "practitioners" of carbon reduction programs through sustainable means in the process of participating in climate governance.

Yao Zhe, Director of Strategic Communication of Green Innovation Development Center, shared China's views and attitude towards international climate integration, and the preliminary results of the professional and technical negotiations between experts in climate-related fields. Referring to the intense agenda of COP27, she shared stories of people sitting on the floor at a press conference with the former president of Ireland, and amusing images of tired delegation members taking a nap on the sofa. In addition, Yao Zhe affirmed the joint efforts of all countries in promoting sustainable development and called on the public to pay attention to the urgency of climate change.

Song Ankang, executive director of the Global Climate Innovation Center, said that the Global Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) aims to promote the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from three aspects: educating climate talent, innovative solutions, and connecting industry leaders.

Referring to COP27, Song Ankang shared her observations from three perspectives: "Sustainable art" gives new life to old things and demonstrates the importance of reusing used materials in an intuitive way; Attention should be paid to the voiceless situation of indigenous people and other groups in climate change. GCIC will also take people to learn more about similar groups and their stories through field research through research workshops and other forms. One of the biggest outcomes of COP27, the Loss and Damage Fund, will provide financing for developing countries affected by climate disasters. And last year,GCIC actively responded to the UN's call for funding to contribute to flood-hit Pakistan.
