Fundraising Handover Ceremony for PakistanOn October 18, 2022, the Global Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) successfully held the Pakistan Flood Relief Donation Ceremony at the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations in New York City. At the donation ceremony, representatives of the Global Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) called on all parties to work together to repair the damage and impact of the floods as soon as possible. Munir Akram, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations, stressed at the donation ceremony that the Global Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) has made positive contributions to achieving the SDGs and carbon neutrality guidelines through innovative programs and concrete practices.
(A picture taken at the fundraising handover ceremony) Many longtime friends of the Global Climate Innovation Centre (GCIC) took time out on this busy Tuesday morning to participate in the fundraising ceremony: Munir Akram, the 76th President of the UN Economic and Social Council, Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the UN, and the former Chairman of the World Trade Organization's Trade Policy Review Body; Michal Mlynar, the Ambassador of Slovakia, and the Vice-President of UNICEF; Lamin B Dibba , the Ambassador of the Gambia, and the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources; Darko Mocibob, the director of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding, and the director of the Department of Affairs and Peace Operations in middle east; Paul Beresford-Hill CBE, the ambassador of Knights of St. John's Sovereign Military Hospital in Tokushima, Malta, and Jerusalem, and the Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Observer Mission; Bilal Chaudhry, the Permanent Representative of Pakistan to the United Nations; Li Ruomei, the Deputy Director of the Carbon Neutral Industry Cooperation Center of China Energy Research Association, and others was present at the scene to support our action. (A picture taken at the fundraising handover ceremony) This summer, affected by melting glaciers and monsoon rains, Pakistan experienced its worst nationwide flooding since 2010. Up to now, the death toll from the flood has risen to 1,717; one-third of Pakistan's territory has been flooded, and secondary disasters such as landslides have caused millions of people to lose their homes. The total number of people affected by the disaster has exceeded 33 million. The southeastern province of Sindh was one of the worst-hit areas. As a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing climate issues, the Global Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) actively responded to the United Nations' call for fundraising and worked with institutions from various countries to contribute to disaster relief, hoping to assist the Pakistani people to overcome the catastrophe and rebuild their homes as soon as possible.

We must always pay attention to the adverse effects of climate change on economic and social activities such as agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishing, as well as the threats to public health, social and economic development. No country is excluded from the threat of climate change, so we must learn the lesson to prevent events like the Pakistan floods from happening elsewhere.

Our current projects are mainly concentrated in three dimensions: talent cultivation, in-depth research, and green investment: 1. GCIC provides customized and comprehensive ESG talent solutions, such as course series, certificate programs, cutting-edge industry-university-research programs, post-doc opportunities and career consulting for both individuals and organizations. Our target audience include teenagers, college students, professionals, enterprise senior managers and more. As for organizations, GCIC acts as a bridge between job seekers and enterprises, assisting enterprises meet their needs for advanced carbon emission and ESG related talents. 2. GCIC gathers outstanding professors, think tanks, research centers, international organizations, and other resources from universities around the world to build a global database in the field of carbon emission reduction and ESG.
