GCIC Representative attends UNA-USA COO 75th Anniversary CelebrationOn October 24, 2022, the United Nations Association of the U.S.A. Council of Organizations (UNA-USA COO) hosted a light lunch event at the Baha’i Offices at UN Plaza, New York in celebrating its 75th Anniversary on UN Day 2022. The event featured the inaugural “Spirit of Eleanor Roosevelt Awards (SERA)” to recognize individuals and organizations’ contributions in advancing the principle set forth in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. GCIC representatives were invited to participate in the event.
Recipients of the Spirit of Eleanor Roosevelt Awards are Ms. Maria Fernanda Espinosa, President of the UN 73rd General Assembly; Ms. Gillian Sorensen, Honorary Advisory Board Member of The Common Good and Past UN Assistant Secretary-General; Ms. Hawa-Taylor-Karmara Diallo, accepting on behalf of the Civil Society Unit of the UN Department of Global Communication; Mrs. Bani Dugal, accepting on behalf of the Principal Representative of the Baha’i International Community.
Representatives from UNA-USA, Coalition for the UN We Need (C4UN), and non-profit organizations participated in the event with a shared interest in supporting local and global projects including various initiatives from the UN to build partnerships and collaborations for a sustainable future.
Representative from GCIC was honored to be invited to the event and learned a lot from senior leaders of non-profit organizations. As a newly established non-profit organization, GCIC hopes to be integrated into the UN and NPOs families, and to actively initiate a series of global green summits and various innovative programs to build a greener world.
