GCIC attends the remote seminar on “How ESG is Impacting the Role of Fund Managers”

On November 10th, GCIC attended the remote seminar on How ESG is Impacting the Role of Fund Managers co-hosted by ESG Innovation Hub and WellHouse Consulting. Featuring guest speakers such as Benedikt Kirsch of CHOM Capital, and Elena Yurchenko, Fund Manager at Meraki Impact, this seminar was especially focused on the new regulations set by the U.S. Security and Exchanges Commission this past May, which rules that all companies must accurately represent ESG principles for any funds they represent under penalty of a monetary fine.

In addition to the above mentioned topic, this event also covered specifics regarding the roles and duties of Fund Managers in the past, as well as the changes in these roles and duties moving forward as ESG and Sustainability begin to have more of an impact on the sector. The event also discusses how organizations can avoid greenwashing, which is where corporations take apparent sustainable actions for publicity purposes without actually making any significant impact on their carbon footprint.

GCIC is glad that organizations are able to discuss and detail the changes in industry jobs as sustainability and ESG move to the forefront of peoples’ attention, as well as appreciate the importance of making genuine, dedicated efforts to reduce carbon emissions rather than greenwashing.
